Show alert! Dec .9th!

Hey Toronto!!! Looking forward to being the opening act for Amai Kuda et Les Bois album release launch show. Amai Kuda and I go way back and it is an honor to share the stage.

EmUrgency! is both an act of healing and an act of resistance. Born from my ongoing journey as a woman of African descent working to reclaim my Indigenous cultural knowledge and to support my community in doing the same, ‘EmUrgency!’ is a collection of prayer songs, war chants, lullabies and love ballads for our times. Set to the sounds of motown, triphop, Afrobeat, pop and soca, the songs address everything from colonization and police brutality to the protection of the environment and the reclamation of African spirituality.

The December 9th launch event will also be raising funds for the Sankofa Maroon Village (SMV), a physical and metaphysical space for African descended folk to rebuild healthy, rooted, sustainable community. While working to establish the first Black eco-village in Canada, Sankofa Maroon Village has already provided low or no-cost healing and education to over 100 Black community members, despite having had no funding. You can find out more and support this powerful project at www.sankofamaroonvillage.com and support here.
